Overview

Visa facilitates global commerce through the transfer of value and information among financial institutions, merchants, consumers and businesses and government entities. We offer a range of branded payment product platforms, which our financial institution clients use to develop programs to cardholders. Visas card platforms provide consumers, businesses, merchants and government entities with a secure, convenient and reliable way to pay and be paid in 170 countries and territories.
Purpose
Business Leader, Product and Brand Marketing is responsible for the development of marketing objectives, strategies and programs in support of Visa products, channels and services. In this role, the Business Leader will develop and manage marketing programs and advertising campaigns that grow awareness and usage of Visa products and services on both consumer and business products, these include: Commercial (Small Business and Large Corporate), Ecommerce, Mobile, Money Transfer and Brand.
Principle Responsibilities
Head local team in the management and implementation of marketing plans and strategies in support of products and channels including: Commercial, payWave, Ecommerce, Mobile, and Money Transfer, working with global counterparts.
Recommend annual marketing plan based on product and marketing objectives to optimize volume/share and revenue growth Drive the execution of all aspects of integrated marketing plan, including advertising development and media placement, promotions, events marketing communications, digital marketing, sales support, and client support Ensure consistent application of positioning and messaging strategy across all components of the marketing mix Identify issues and opportunities for both Consumer and Commercial targets by understanding market-related conditions, competitive environment, and insights via market research Lead projects within cross-functional and/or cross-regional marketing team that may include representation from Marketing, Product, Sales, and Corporate Communications Provide marketing perspective in client facing presentations and provide ongoing marketing consultation as appropriate when unique, product-specific expertise is needed. Manage marketing program effectiveness and performance, including ROI, for specific marketing initiatives Build and maintain relationships with Product Management, Client Services, Merchant Marketing and Financial Institution Marketing to ensure effective implementation of marketing strategies Manage budget including quarterly forecasting, tracking and reporting, and ensure on-plan delivery of costs and demonstrate an understanding of key P&L leverage points Lead creative and media partners in the development and execution of the communication strategy and implement high quality programs on time and budget Provide support in selling efforts to Financial Institution clients and liaise with Financial Institution Marketing in the development client communication materials
Strategic Nature, Management Accountability & Scope
Define, plan and manage annual marketing plans for new products (payWave, Mobile, Money Transfer), existing products (Commercial) and channels (eCommerce) Act as marketing subject matter expert and support for all product areas of responsibility Ensure alignment of annual marketing objectives with business objectives Drive annual sales volume and grow clients business across all products and channels managed Support annual client business objectives and provide strategic marketing insights for product launches (payWave, Mobile, Visa Infinite for Business) Responsible for setting marketing objectives and key performance indicators for each product of responsibility Regularly manage, track and measure campaign performance and refine with learning. Define and revise marketing objectives as required Support new products entering the Canadian market - Mobile, payWave, Money Transfer by assessing product business objectives and defining the level of marketing investment
Decision-making and Complexity
Business Leader, Product & Brand Marketing is a position that will have both tactical (day to day) and strategic decision-making that spans a wide range of products, and that impacts multiple internal functional areas (Product, Legal, Sales) as well as external partners (Issuers, Merchants, Agencies)
For new products, work with key stakeholders to assess timing for implementation and decide the go to market communication plans Assess media plans developed for each product and determine optimal allotment of investment to maximize advertising effectiveness and provide positive MROI Determine key communication messages and creative strategy for advertising, and provide clear direction to agency partners to refine messaging (as required) Establish the optimal level of investment across marketing programs that will meet business objectives and align with revenue projections Manage a direct report and provide direction to meet key deliverables and ensure marketing program execution with excellence Prioritize projects and scope of work and determine strategies for managing work flow and internal and external resources Working with merchant marketing team, determine which participating merchant offers that will be included in the communication plans and in which media channel
Financial Organization and Scope
Manage annual local and global marketing budgets, straddling multiple cost centers Manage individual marketing program costs Establish purchase orders and track monthly invoices Responsible for quarterly reforecast of budget and ensuring alignment to forecast and provide variance reporting (as required)
Reporting Relationships and Interactions
Position reports to Head of Product & Brand Marketing and requires to regularly liaise with both internal and external stakeholders. This includes: Collaborate with Senior Business Leaders and Manager within the Product Business Units to understand product strategy and objectives Client Services - Sales directors across all key issuing clients and acquiring clients Legal - work regularly with legal and ensure compliance with Canadian advertising law and standards Financial Institution Marketing External contacts: Represent as marketing subject matter expert and regularly present product communication objectives and strategies to both Issuers and Acquirers Oversee and manage key supplier relationships (creative and media agencies, research firms)in the development of marketing programs as well as marketing research
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Business degree and/or MBA an asset, or equivalent work-related experience 8-10 years in marketing experience with roles that involved strategy & planning as well as execution, preferably across multiple segments and various marketing disciplines Ability to develop marketing strategies based on business objectives that deliver to target Strong project management experience and ability to manage multiple projects and timelines Demonstrated track record of implementing marketing strategies based on business objectives and managing marketing programs that delivered measurable business results Experience managing external advertising and marketing communications agency partners A demonstrated ability to integrate information from a wide variety of sources to arrive at optimal problem solutions and offer innovative alternatives and options towards resolution Highly effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present with impact Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills, and leads by influence and example Strong planning, organizational and problem solving skills Exceptional project management skills and is able to drive consensus in cross regional and cross functional teams A demonstrated understanding of financial indicators to measure business performance including ROI and an ability to summarize business and financial data in a useful manner for planning and decision making Proficient on all Microsoft products including Excel, Word, and Outlook Advanced level PowerPoint required Bilingual (English/French) an asset
